Call To Worship - SELFLESS

by 70x7 | November 9th, 2009

The “Call To Worship” is a traditional liturgical element containing spoken words of invitation with which a worship celebration begins.  The words are usually spoken by the worship leader followed by responses by the congregation.  Each week, I try to prepare a new “Call To Worship” for our traditional service, focusing on the content of the preacher’s message for that day, while exhorting the people to enthusiastically enter into the time of worship. - B.J. SELFLESS

Leader:      We are God’s chosen people.  Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.
People:      LORD, YOU MUST BECOME GREATER, AND I MUST BECOME LESS.
Leader:      Anyone who wishes to follow Jesus must deny himself and take up his cross.
People:      LORD, I WILL LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND AND WALK IN YOUR WAYS.
Leader:      We can only be fully complete when we are emptied of self.
People:    LORD, EMPTY ME OF SELF, AND FILL ME WITH YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Leader:      We must seek to become less in the flesh, and more in the Spirit.
People:    LORD, SEND A FRESH ANOINTING OF YOUR HOLY SPIRIT UPON ME.
Leader:      We must die to self, that we may be stirred to new life by the Holy Spirit’s power.
People:     LORD, I WANT TO BE REBORN OF YOUR HOLY SPIRIT.
Leader:     We are not of this world.  Let us lift our voices to heaven and give God the glory.
People:      LORD, WE SHALL JOIN WITH THE CHOIRS OF ANGELS AND WORSHIP YOU!
